Coquitlam Farmers Market

The Coquitlam Farmers Market is a non-profit, volunteer driven organization and is one of the longest running suburban farmer’s markets in the Lower Mainland, with beginnings rooted in a community economic development project initiated by SFU students in 1996. In 2016 it celebrated it’s 20th anniversary.

The vendors are an entrepreneurial bunch, whose unique products (all made, baked, grown, or raised in BC) showcase the best that the province has to offer. With a wide selection of conventional and organic produce, complimented by a strong assortment of crafters, prepared food vendors, and craft breweries, wineries, and distilleries, the market has developed a strong and loyal customer base.

The market has become a destination venue for many individuals and families interested in knowing more about where their food comes from – buying local food for taste, quality, and freshness. Shoppers support local agricultural producers as a means of having greater access to fresher foods and choice over differing growing practices. While this ultimately leads to a healthier personal lifestyle and contributes to more economically viable family farms, buying from local producers also reduces the amount of miles that food travels and assists in reducing the ecological footprint of the community.
